Events – May of 2014.
Dalmacija Wine Expo – wine festival
Dalmatia Wine Expo is the trade fair for the promotion of Croatian wines and gastronomic specialties. This year will be held in two terms, 24 and April 25 in Split and May 1 and 2 in Makarska. Split and Makarska during this period will become the center of many people who love good wine, food and art. The aim of the event is to encourage branding Croatian as unavoidable gastronomical destination.
Medieval Fair in Trogir – 01.05. – 04.05.
On the first weekend in May in Trogir will be held the third medieval fair. Rich in history, legend and wonderfully preserved town center, will certainly contribute more to the overall atmosphere of the fair.
Golf Tournament, Split – 03.05.
Sv. Dujam Open will be held in the field of golf near Split – Stobreć by the river Žrnovnicu along the left side of Omis (5 km from the Spit). This year tournament will be attended by about fifty golfers.
Saint Domnius Day – 07.05.
The Day of Saint Domnius, Split’s patron saint, takes place on the 7th May bringing together around 10 thousand pilgrims, believers and other friends of Split. The main celebration includes a procession that starts from
St. Domnius cathedral, passing through Riva and finishing on Doctor Franjo Tuđman square, where a Mass is then held. Sudamja, a popular festival in honour of Saint Domnius, begins early
in the morning and includes many events: from brass band concerts, klapas, the selling of traditional souvenirs, wooden butterflies and similar toys for children to wooden utensils for older people, a rowing contest in front of the waterfront and the well-known Tombula, a famous, popular game that offers players the chance of winning money.
The fruits of Dalmatia – 17.05. – 19.05.
The fruits of Dalmatia, traditional fair of local products, will be held in Split. On the event can be found most diverse local products, honey, olive oil, smoked and dried fish, soparnik, cakes of dried figs, prosciutto, almonds, cream and herbal essences, wines and spirits, to souvenirs of Brac stone, folk costumes, gold thread, from all parts of Dalmatia.
Croatia Boat Show – 21.05. – 25.05.
Croatia Boat Show will on the promenade of the West Coast of the city of Split host the most beautiful fleet of
ships, and once again confirm the uniqueness and potential of the Croatian on the international nautical maps.
Fair wine and delicacies “Wine Cellars” – Split, Diocletian’s cellars -23.05. – 24.05.
The best wines will be presented by many winemakers from all over the Croatian, and beyond. From the top of the Dalmatian blues, Babic, Pošip, Maraština, Babic and other wines “101 indigenous varieties of Dalmatia”, through the beautiful light of Krk žlahtina a full range of top Malvasia, until Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem Riesling, Merlot and new interesting central Croatian wines, which recently revealed some of her old indigenous varieties. Split video festival, Split 31.05.
At the Fortress Gripe in Split will be held video festival. The festival will present the best Croatian videos. The event will bring together filmmakers, musicians, representatives of the media, the film industry and the audience. The audience will be able to vote for their favorites on Facebook page of the Split video festival.
Events – June of 2014.
In water volleyball – Picigin championship is held every year in early June. Picigin popular traditional game on the beaches of the city of Split. The most commonly played on a popular beach Bačvice in Split (in the shallow water of the sea), which includes a small ball of about 5-10 cm in diameter. Each game usually includes five players – of any age and gender. The aim is to keep the ball in the air as long as possible, so that it passes between players. You can use any part of the body to keep the ball in the air, so you can often see some pretty incredible stunts by players!
The Mediterranean Film Festival Split takes place each year in early June, showcasing films from the region in several venues in Split. This year’s event will take place from 6th to 14th June.
The Underwall Festival, Zadar-06.06. – 08.06.2014.
Underwall Festival is the only festival of the metal / punk / hard rock / hardcore / gothic music! The festival is a product of cooperation and friendship Croatian metal bands and agencies Full Metal Service. This festival is for all those who want to combine great weekend of heavy music with a holiday in the 3000 years old city of Zadar.
The International Children’s Festival in Sibenik is held at the end of June/early July each year; the first event took place in 1958.
Split Street Performers Festival – 16.06.
The International festival of street performers lasts for 15 days and has been taking place in Split for the last 7 years. Artists, street entertainers, performers of informal artistic expression from 16 countries entertain visitors and citizens at 6 locations in the city of Split. City squares and little streets come alive with pleasant sounds of strange instruments and acrobats.
Makarska Cultural Summer 25.06. – 25.09.
If you visit Makarska you can enjoy the cultural program during the summer. For example harmony songs on the Singing Festival with mandolins and guitars and enjoy theater performances and exhibitions. Also there are various sports tournaments such as swimming marathon. At the end you can relax with some of the fiestas in Makarska such as the Fishermen’s Night, Night Kalalarga or the Summer Carnival.
Days Kairosa u Trogiru – Antique Fair 27.06. – 29.06.
During the festival the streets of the city Trogir will be an antique fair. Exhibitors will sell handicrafts, natural products, authentic food, antiques, natural products made by the original recipe as it is was produced and made in the old days.
Summer Festival of Podstrana 01.07. – 31.08.
Summer Festival of Podstrana takes place during July and August and offers a varied program of music, literature, art and drama events.
Trogir Cultural Summer – 01.07. – 01.09.
During the summer, in Trogir will be various cultural events, as well as a variety of traditional and contemporary concerts, along with theater and dance performances and exhibitions Croatian and international performers at various locations around the Trogir. The most fun is guaranteed on the day of city Trogir and Trogir Fishermen nights.
Festival of Dalmatian songs Omis – 03.07. – 27.07.
The festival has been located here since 1967. During the festival, time is uniquely allocated to male vocal groups, female vocal groups, children’s vocal groups and folk singers. This event has greatly contributed to the development and preservation of the culture of a cappella folk singing, and the songs that were performed here for the first time have become a part of Dalmatian culture and many are still sung today.
Split Festival – 05.07. – 07.07.2014.
Pop Music Festival Split or Split Festival is one of the most popular festival of light music in Croatia. The festival is already 54 years, held every summer in Split on the Prokurative, in early July. It has become the center of the country music world. The first festival was held in Split in 1960., and since over 800 songs by famous Croatian have been performed at the festival.
Ultra Europe 2014 – 11.07. – 13.07.
This dance music event will be held in Split in the beautiful surroundings of the stadium Poljud. Each day will be filled with boat parties and the main party will be held at the stadium in the evening. The novelty of this year’s edition of the festival and the extra day and so will fans of electronic music and not even three days to enjoy the music of the world’s top DJ stars, among which are currently approved Hardwell, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Tiësto, Afrojack, Carl Cox. 60th Split Summer 14.07. – 14.08.
Split Summer (1954 – 2014) art festival along with the Dubrovnik Summer Festival is the festival with longest and shiniest tradition of classical spectrum of Performing Arts (of opera, drama, ballet, jazz concerts, film shows, exhibitions and street theater).
Salsa festival Split – 22.07. -25.07.

Sinjska alka (Sinj’s knight competition) 04.08.
Every first Sunday in August the Croatian knight’s game – Alka takes place. Alkars (knights) wear old costumes and compete by hitting the ring with a lance and the knight who after the third race has collected the greatest number of points wins. Alka of Sinj was included on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
Day of the Blessed Virgin Mary – 15.08.
The Day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven is celebrated in many countries. In Croatia, this day is a public holiday and is traditionally celebrated in Croatian Virgin Mary shrines – Marija Bistrica, Sinj, Aljmas, Ilača, Split and Trsat.
Days of Diocletian – 16.08. – 19.08.
Days of Diocletian 2014th will return city Split at a time when the city was ruled by the Roman emperor Diocletian. On city streets and squares will align the Roman legions; the Emperor Diocletian will together with his wife Priscilla on the carriage and procession of Roman legions will come from the waterfront to the Peristyle where they will greet the audience. Through the city you will be able to hear the sounds of trumpets, drummers and Roman music, and also you will be able to enjoy the rich gastronomic offer from the time of Diocletian.
Events – September of 2014.
Split Film Festival lasts for eight days from 13 to 20 September 2014. and on it will be shown new films from around the world in a variety of categories, themes, genres and styles.
9th Medieval Fair in Sibenik will be held in late September, with music, dancing and “sports” (knight battles and crossbowmen) and culinary specialties from that period.
